Protecting Your leather Boots
Winter has come and the seasons are changing. The leather boots that were purchased during the previous months to equip ourselves for the winter were quite pricey this season. Looking after your leather boots can make them last and provide you with much more lasting service.
The question arises how does a person that purchases a great set of footwear like leather boots keep them performing and looking their best. Looking after your leather boots doesn’t need to be a real chore if you follow these simple and easy steps.
Pre Treating Protection
• Upon purchasing your leather boots remove all laces and tags.
• Using a slightly damp rag with very hot water wipe boot outer surface to open grain pores of the leather. Water on rag must be very hot and only slightly damp.
• Spray boots with a sweeping brisk motion using silicon water repellant spray. Allow to dry. Keep in mind this treatment will sometime slightly darken the leather boot. Test on a small area first is the rule.
• Pre treating your boots is the key to looking after your leather boots.
• Acquire a good brand of Anti-Fungal Spray and spray the inners of the boot. This will stop a problem before it gets started. The wetness caused by the elements and perspiration create an environment inside the boot that allows bacteria to permeate the linings and padding of the boot. Also foot-fungus can be contracted from these conditions.
After Use Care
• Looking after your leather boots can be made simpler by removing them as soon as coming in from the elements and remove the mud and any other offending problems. To do perform these tasks use a Boot-brush that you give your boots a going over with to remove the mud and debris.
• If the boot is covered with a layer of mud wipe it away with a damp cloth. The Pre treatment will keep away any harm that can result from a wet rag on the surface of your boot.
• After removing and cleaning the boots of mud or grime open the laces to expose the inside of the boot to as much surface air contact as possible. You can help this process by putting a small fan facing into the boots. This will allow for evaporation of wetness from the boot. They do have boot dryers to put your boots on check into this if possible it will make looking after your Leather Boots easier. www.doomsday-learn-prepare-survive.com
